Quick Write 9/27/12

Good Morning!

Start a NEW sheet for your Quick Writes.  Set it up in MLA.

Today's Quick Write:
We've already learned that Ponyboy and the rest of his friends have many conflicts.  Make two lists in your Quick Write today . . . one of Pony's INTERNAL conflicts, and one of his EXTERNAL conflicts.  Be ready to share with your class.

    Ponyboy's Conflicts . . .
    Internal:
    --Ponyboy doesn't feel confident at school; he thinks people (Socs) are judging him.
    --Should I break the law or stay out of trouble?
    --Worrying about what Darry thinks of him.

    External:
    --the Socs (jumped him; beat him up)
    --the Socs judge him because he's a Greaser
    --Mom and Dad died

    Ponyboy's Conflicts . . .
    INTERNAL:
    --Ponyboy has to deal with the feelings from his parents dying.
    --feelings about getting jumped by the Socs
    --thinks he isn't good looking; he doesn't feel good about himself
    --he "doesn't use his head"

    EXTERNAL:
    --Darry yells at him all the time.
    --Socs (jumping him; judging him)
    --Socs v. Greasers
    --cuts and bruises
    --HAS to stay out of trouble
